meet Destry, the driving force behind our diversity, equity, and inclusion commitment

Destry Fallen is the Director of Inclusion, Diversity and Community Outreach at Dayton Children's. On any day, you can find Destry walking the halls of the hospital, on a mission to drive the organization's commitment to diversity and inclusion or finding time to listen to concerns and ideas from any and every employee! Destry says that Dr. King has had a life-long impact on his life and professional work.

"Martin Luther King will always remain alive in me. When I was very young, my parents had a picture of MLK hanging next to Jesus at The Last Super on our living room wall. I recall my momma talking about his hopes, dreams, and advocacy for all people."

Today, Destry brings Dr. King's dream of equity and inclusion to support Dayton Children's in continuing to be an inclusive place to work for more than 3,800 employees. He says his focus is to make sure all feel valued to bring their best selves to work because that's how we can provide the best care to the children who we treat.

"There are many reasons why diversity, equity and inclusion is important at Dayton Children’s but I will use one of Dr. King's quotes to highlight just one: 'All we say to America is, be true to what you said on paper.' This quote makes me think of Dayton Children's mission of the relentless pursuit of optimal health for every child within our reach. To accomplish this mission, we must be true to diversity and inclusion for all!"
