pre/perinatal assessment and care
Specialists at Dayton Children’s work closely with physicians throughout our community to provide the best possible care for babies during pregnancy and in the early stages of life.
When problems are detected during pregnancy, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment is available through the Fetal to Newborn Care Center, a joint collaborative of Dayton Children’s and Miami Valley Hospital. The Center offers care coordination throughout pregnancy, advanced diagnostic testing, genetic counseling and advanced treatment during pregnancy and after birth.
caring for babies during and after delivery
Our neonatologists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide consultation in person or by phone, and can attend potentially complicated deliveries on request.
transport team
Babies who need critical care after birth are transferred from hospitals throughout our region to the Dayton Children’s NICU. Dayton Children’s has a regional neonatal ground transportation unit and specially trained transport team. Team members include a highly skilled NICU nurse and a respiratory therapist. The neonatologist is on call if requested or needed. The team transports more than 500 critically ill newborns every year and maintains an excellent safety record. In collaboration with Miami Valley Hospital, air transport is also available on request.
