Objectives:

  1. Differentiate between definitions related to constipation with unified approach to the care of patients with intractable constipation.
  2. Identify alarm signs and symptoms associated with constipation and fecal incontinence warranting further evaluation.
  3. Recognize non-pharmacologic adjunct treatment options and categorize multidisciplinary management for patients with functional constipation and fecal incontinence.
  4. Utilize standardized medical management for patients and list referral criteria for the Bowel Management Program.
