new doctor brings advances in minimally invasive surgery
Arturo Aranda, MD, has joined the department of pediatric surgery at Dayton Children’s Hospital. He most recently completed a residency in general surgery at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
Dr. Aranda completed a general surgical residency at Monterrey University and Christus-Muguerza Hospital in Mexico. He is fellowship trained in pediatric surgery from the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and received certification in pediatric robotic surgery from Boston Children’s Hospital. He practiced pediatric surgery as an attending physician at Christus-Muguerza Hospital in Mexico for over three years and recently completed an additional residency in general surgery at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Dr. Aranda brings new advanced techniques in minimally invasive surgery to Dayton Children’s.
The department of pediatric surgery consists of five highly-trained pediatric surgeons and two specialized pediatric nurse practitioners. Surgeons at Dayton Children’s perform more than 10,000 surgeries each year. Dayton Children’s provides consultation and care for a variety of problems in infants, children and teens with emphasis on congenital, neoplastic and traumatic conditions and offers pre-surgery tours for pediatric patients and their families to help ease anxiety before surgery. Dayton Children’s surgery team is assisted by board certified anesthesiologists who are specially trained to provide anesthesia care to pediatric patients of all sizes.
