bio

Gary Mueller, MD is a pediatric pulmonologist and program director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Dayton Children's Hospital. He is also an associate professor at Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. Dr. Mueller was born and raised in Warren, Michigan. He completed his medical school education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Following college, he spent his internship and residency at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed his fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. After his fellowship, Dr. Mueller joined the pediatric pulmonology practice at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Mueller is board certified in pediatrics and sub-board certified in pediatric pulmonology. During his time at Dayton Children's he has developed a special interest in treating patients with cystic fibrosis. Dr. Mueller is a well-respected provider in the cystic fibrosis community not only by his patients, but by other providers throughout the nation. When asked why he chose to specialize in pediatric pulmonology he said he enjoys working with children and it's rewarding to heal many of the common breathing ailments in children. One of his favorite things about working with children is that "they rarely complain no matter how ill they are and are always happy to see me!"

My son's appointment was on time. The nurse doing his breathing test explained everything that he needed/wanted to know in such a kind and patient manner helping him to not be afraid. The other nurses we saw were also very kind and professional. Dr. Mueller asked thoughtful questions and listened to the answers with intent. When it was decided we should do an EKG, just to eliminate a cardiac cause for his breathing issue, we were seen within minutes. The nurse doing the EKG was friendly and fast. I felt like everyone in that office cared about my son.
