get to know me

I chose my specialty because...

sleep has the potential to impact many facets of a child’s behavior including learning.  With a strong background in teaching, I wanted to improve sleep patterns in children to increase their success in the classroom.  I also have a special interest in working with patients who may need some assistance with weight management in order to improve their sleep.

I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...

I wanted to make the transition from adult care to pediatric health care.  I continue to work at Dayton Children’s because children have this ability to rebound and be successful beyond my wildest dreams for them.  To work in that type of environment, surrounded by their love for life is more rewarding than anything else I know.

Dayton Children's is special because...

we go beyond the medicine of healing and connect with patients and their families where they are in their journey striving to help in another way.  Our passion for who we are and what we do also goes into the community; from teaching school aged children about bicycle safety to teaching young professionals how to carry on the legacy of healing children – and I get to help with it all.

She's very thorough and makes sure you understand what she's discussing. She describes it in layman's terms, which is very nice, especially for people who could not be in the medical field. And she also is cautious with her words, especially in terms of overweight children and things like that. She's very good with making sure she's not saying anything offensive and making sure that the parent understands what she's saying. So, yes, we loved her and look forward to being with her if we ever needed to go back again.

Hila has been an amazing blessing to our family. Had it not been for her care of our grandson, I'm not sure how well we would have been able to handle his diagnosis of juvenile narcolepsy. She's been absolutely great and been able to figure things out in a way that I don't think regular physicians would have been able to because she takes the time necessary to get to know our grandson and recommend things that really work, and we're very thankful for her.
