get to know me

I chose my specialty because...

I have always been fascinated by the human mind and behavior. During my medical training, I found that I was drawn toward cases that involved mental health. Psychiatry has always left me feeling more fulfilled as a provider and I enjoy the process of getting to know my patients.

I like working with kids because...

they are fun and enjoyable to treat and interact with. Kids have a strength and resilience that I admire, and it feels great when I can help improve the quality of life for a child and their family.

I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...

I have always felt welcomed. During my fellowship training at Wright State University, I felt as a valued member of the team amongst my colleagues and that I mattered. I also witnessed a similar attitude from my colleagues as they created a warm environment for the patients.

Dayton Children's is special because...

the entire team is committed to a positive patient experience while also contributing to a friendly environment for patients and families.

fun fact about Dr. Maione's personal interests outside of work

We were stuck in traffic due to an accident on the way there and running late because of it. We called to let them know and they said our appointment may be canceled. I understand the office policy but obviously this was out of our control. Luckily we were only 10 minutes late so able to be seen. The person on the phone was not all that friendly.

We waited 20 minutes for a Telehealth appointment which is way too long to wait. He does not under his patient needs or even medications that he has tried and what effects they had on his patient. I often explain everything that is going on and then he will ask the same questions again like he was not listening. I don't have a good feeling with my child's current doctor. I may need to consider finding someone different. I love Dr Smith he gave the best care and listened to what was said the first time.

I feel like he is not listening very well during the appointment. I often have to repeat things again. He continues to want to meet every 2 to 3 months when the previous provider was only seeing us every 6 months. He continuously says "That's Fair That's Fair" after almost everything we talk about. He is not knowledgeable of my son's history after seeing him for a year. The appointment is mainly for me (parent) to talk to him about my son and his behaviors since my son does not have good communication skills. I think it is a waste of money out of my pocket and my time to meet every 2 to 3 months. I may need to find a new provider that I feel better about.
