bio

Elisabeth Wynne, M.D., FACS, is a pediatric surgeon at Dayton Children's Hospital. The Columbus native brings additional capacity and expertise in minimally invasive and thoracic surgery to the Dayton Children’s team.

While born in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Wynne was raised just outside of Washington D.C. She attended the University of Virginia for undergraduate studies where she graduated with highest distinction in biomedical engineering. Over the next four years she would remain in Virginia earning her medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Wynne completed a general surgery residency at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. During her residency she completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Biodesign – Medical Device Innovation at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California. After residency, she went on to complete her postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at University of Utah in Salt Lake City. When asked why she likes working with children Dr. Wynne said, "Children are incredibly resilient, and I love being able to help them through a trauma or illness and get back to the activities they enjoy! You know a child is improving when you walk into their hospital or clinic room and see them playing happily."

After moving from coast-to-coast for her education, Dr. Wynne is excited to return to Ohio, where she will be closer to family while working at a top children's hospital. Outside of work Dr. Wynne loves spending time with her family; traveling, hiking and trying new restaurants!

The doctor listened carefully to our concerns. She treated my daughter respectfully and was mindful of her needs.

I was very satisfied with how everything went.

The entire team of Doctors, Nurses, Admin, and all Support Staff, are amazingly!! Never were we left guessing about a procedure being performed, it was always explained. How we were treated; from answering our questions, to interacting with the medical staff, providing accommodations for my wife and I to stay with him, while in the hospital. How our son was treated by everyone, at the hospital, is the way we wish people were treated all the time. The entire team took the fear away of our child being sick and scared and that was demonstrated every time, I noticed other children being taken care of. Dayton Children's is an incredible hospital and we are so blessed to have it a part of the fabric of our community!!

She lacked bedside manner for someone who works with children. Her tone was very short and she kept looking my child and me up and down from her computer like she was disgusted. Her discussion on treatment options were pretty non- existent.
