4 keys to unlocking your child’s emotional wellbeing

happy colorful family

Children face a lot of challenges as they grow up. It’s important to protect them and make sure they feel secure and one way to do this is by focusing on emotional wellbeing.

What is emotional wellbeing?

Emotional wellbeing is an important component to child development. Emotional wellbeing is often not consistently prioritized, yet it impacts almost every aspect of our overall health and wellness.

It can lay the foundation for children to:

  • Learn how to overcome challenges
  • Handle emotions
  • Get along well with family, friends, and important adults.

4 keys to building emotional wellbeing

According to The Center for Disease Control, “Being mentally healthy during childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones and learning healthy social skills and how to cope when there are problems. Mentally healthy children have a positive quality of life and can function well at home, in school, and in their communities.”

You may not know where to start when it comes to unlocking a child’s emotional wellbeing so we have four main “keys” to building emotional wellbeing.

Each key will give you knowledge and ideas and tools for you to use when promoting your child’s mental wellness:

  1. Understand Childhood Stress
  2. Prioritize Physical Wellness
  3. Encourage Positive Connections
