Dayton City Beautiful Award
Dayton Children's honored for festive holiday decor
Dayton Children’s is honored to receive the December Dayton City Beautiful Award for the festive holiday décor along Valley Street and inside the hospital itself. City leaders presented the honor at the December City Commission meeting.
The décor started with the transformation of Dayton Children’s campus with a new patient tower in 2017. With a vision of bringing the whimsical decor inside Dayton Children’s and marrying it with the wonder of the season outside, hospital leaders commissioned a magical display of holiday cheer all along Valley Street to match. From Santa and his reindeer on the canopy of the front entrance, to the oversized ornaments, to the lighted trees, to the giant caterpillar sporting a jaunty Santa hat at the children’s garden, anyone driving by is sure to feel the fun and festive spirit. It’s just another way Dayton Children’s seeks to be a good neighbor and provide layers of distractions for children who have to visit the hospital.
