Dayton Children's statement on racism
This week, our country has engaged in important and difficult conversations about race. At Dayton Children’s, we too have been engaging in these conversations.
First and foremost, we do not and will not tolerate any form of racism at Dayton Children’s.
But beyond just saying we do not tolerate racism, we, along with many of you, have been asking the question “what MORE can we do to make a difference?”
We are looking both inside our own walls and outside into our community, convening the right people to have the right conversations and taking decisive action to make a difference.
At Dayton Children’s our mission is “the relentless pursuit of optimal health for every child within our reach.”
We know that a world with racism does not lead to a world with optimal health for our kids.
When we look at the impact of race on children’s health we see significant disparities between white children and those of color.
This is NOT ok with us.
These conversations about children’s health and race are not new at Dayton Children’s. But today, we come before our community to recommit to finding answers and making a difference.
By doing this, we are not just committing to the relentless pursuit of optimal health for every child within our reach, but we are also committing to the relentless pursuit of the elimination of racism.
We hope you will join us.
