Dayton Children's sees record-breaking #GivingTuesday
$85,000 raised during the hospital's 10th annual #GivingTuesday campaign
“Above and beyond” is the rallying cry for many caregivers and staff at Dayton Children’s Hospital, and that motto has also been taken up by our community of supporters who are passionate about helping sick and injured kids.
On November 29, 2022, more than 40 people volunteered as fundraising “champions” to support kids at Dayton Children’s during the 10th annual Giving Tuesday campaign. Our champions, matching gift sponsor Boom Crate Studios, and everyone who donated, helped us reach a record-breaking fundraising total of $85,000!
Every dollar raised helps ensure that kids who depend on Dayton Children’s receive care that’s just as special as they are. Donations support the purchase of new equipment and technology, essential supplies, research and education, games and toys for sick kids, and much more.
Many Giving Tuesday Champions joined teams that worked together toward a specific hospital fund or need. To make it fun, teams participated in a friendly competition for prizes including Dayton Children’s swag, gift baskets, and gift certificates.
The Women’s Board of Dayton Children’s Hospital fundraising auxiliary was the winning team with more than $40,000 in donations supporting elevated mental and behavioral services. Women’s Board member Becki Taylor took “above and beyond” to another level by single-handedly raising $20,000! Taylor, a State Farm Insurance agent, rallied her fellow agents to both donate and apply for matching gifts from State Farm.
“I’m a new member on the Women’s Board and Giving Tuesday was my first campaign,” says Taylor. “Dayton Children’s efforts to elevate mental health awareness and the care needed for our community is unparalleled. As a member of the Women’s Board, it’s exciting to witness firsthand how these fundraisers can positively impact the children and families in our community. This is a small start in what our Board has set to accomplish, and I am grateful to play a small part.”
Giving Tuesday is an international celebration of giving that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year. Dayton Children’s has been participating in Giving Tuesday since it began in 2012, and more than $400,000 has been raised during that time to directly support kids who depend on our local children’s hospital.
