Dayton Children’s encourages families to use Thanksgiving break to get the flu and COVID vaccine
As the end of the year looms ahead, experts at Dayton Children’s are encouraging families to make sure those eligible receive their flu and covid vaccine to prepare for winter.
“While we didn’t have a flu season last year, we are already seeing flu in the area,” says Lisa Ziemnik, MD, division chief of Dayton Children’s Kids Express and urgent care. “We want to make sure everyone age 6 months and up is protected with the flu vaccine and those age 5 and up have the added protection of the COVID vaccine.”
Dayton Children’s Kids Express is offering the flu vaccine at all locations and the COVID vaccine at certain locations (see below).
“While kids are off school for the Thanksgiving holiday, our Kids Express locations are open and teams are ready to give out vaccines all days but Thanksgiving,” says Ziemnik.
Kids Express can provide the flu vaccine for age 6 months and up and the COVID vaccine for age 5 and up. For kids age 5 and up, the flu vaccine and COVID vaccine can also be given at the same time. Learn more.
Kids Express is open 7 days a week (closed Thanksgiving) including evening hours. Along with vaccines, Kids Express also offers quick care for minor conditions such as ear infections, COVID concerns, colds and pink eye when patients can’t get into their pediatrician.
The flu shot is available at all four Kids Express locations.
The COVID vaccine is available at Kids Express Springboro, Mason and West Chester.
Appointments: Parents are encouraged to save their spot online before coming to Kids Express for a vaccine.
