Dayton-area hospitals implement visitor restrictions to limit spread of respiratory infections
taking effect January 3, 2025
In alignment with the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA) and Dayton-area hospitals, Dayton Children's will implement increased visitation restrictions on January 3, 2025.
These precautionary measures are an effort to minimize the spread of respiratory infections to hospital patients and employees, as cases of illness are elevated.

Starting January 3, 2025:
- No visitation to inpatient units by those with respiratory illness symptoms including coughing or fever, etc.
- No visitation to inpatient units by anyone under age 14
NICU visitor restrictions
As of November 18, 2024, to keep our tiniest patients healthy:
- Siblings must be 14 years or older to visit
- All other visitors must be 16 years or older
important notes:
- Special circumstances can be discussed with managers on a case-by-case basis to ensure the proper care for families at all times.
- Children coming to an outpatient clinic visit who have respiratory symptoms should wear a mask, if older than 2 years and developmentally able.

To keep from spreading respiratory infections to others, GDAHA member hospitals recommend careful handwashing, coughing and sneezing into a sleeve or a tissue, and staying home from work or school for at least 24 hours after an individual is fever free.
