Fetal cardiology, congenital heart disease

bio

Christopher Bugnitz, MD is a pediatric cardiologist and Chief Medical Faculty Development Officer at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Bugnitz was born in St. Louis, MO and raised in Memphis, TN. He graduated college from the University of Notre Dame. He then completed his medical school education at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He spent his pediatrics residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where he stayed on an additional year as a chief resident. After also completing his fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Dr. Bugnitz joined the pediatric cardiology practice at Dayton Children's Hospital. Dr. Bugnitz is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. When asked why he chose to specialize in cardiology he responded "I enjoy the challenge of caring for children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Many cardiac diagnoses require lifelong follow-up, which means that I have the privilege of watching my patients grow and thrive." During his time here at Dayton Children's he has developed a special interest in fetal cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac MRI. In addition, he also has a passion for educating his patients and families. One of his favorite things about working with children is getting to witness the love that their parents have for them.

The doctor and the medical student in the room did a wonderful job of making us feel comfortable and being happy to see us and our child. And I felt like they did a very thorough job and were very good at what they do.

This provider not only helped reassure me about my children's heart health but also clarified some things for me and my personal medical history (the mom) that I didn't understand as well as I thought. The extra time he took for that was appreciated and really helped give me peace of mind.

I was treated in the best way, and I recommend this doctor to others who need care.

Super friendly staff all around. We got there early and were actually seen right away. Waited less than 5 minutes. Both the nurse and doctor answered any and all questions in a way even my son could understand. We were very pleased with our experience.
