when should I call 911?

For a serious emergency, call 911. Some situations are so serious that you need the help of trained medical personnel on the way to the hospital.

Call 911 if your child:

  • isn't breathing or is turning blue
  • is unconscious after a fall
  • is having a seizure
  • has a serious allergic reaction
  • has a broken bone that sticks out through the skin
  • took an unknown amount of medicine and is now hard to rouse
  • is choking
  • has a large cut that's bleeding uncontrollably

when should I go to the emergency room?

An ER (emergency room) — also called an emergency department (ED) — can handle a wide variety of serious problems. They are equipped to handle life-threatening illnesses and injuries at any time of the day or night.

Go to the ER if your child has:

  • trouble breathing
  • unusual sleepiness or confusion
  • a stiff neck and a fever
  • a continuous fast heartbeat
  • ingested a poison, drug, or unknown substance
  • a head injury and is vomiting
  • an eye injury
  • a serious burn

when should I go to urgent care?

Sometimes an injury or an illness isn't life threatening but needs medical attention on the same day. If that's the case, and your doctor doesn't have office hours at the time, consider going to an urgent care center.

Some cases where you might take your child to an urgent care center include:

  • Cuts/stitches
  • Minor injuries
  • Headaches/head injury
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Mild allergic reactions
  • Minor animal bites

when should I choose after-hours ortho?

When your child has an orthpedic injury, don’t sit next to sick and ill patients in the emergency room or urgent care. Get faster, less expensive, expert care at after-hours ortho. Our pediatric-trained specialists will treat orthopaedic injuries including:

  • Broken bones/fractures
  • Sports injuries
  • Foot or ankle injuries
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Knee injuries
  • Hand or wrist injuries
  • Strains and sprains

when should I call my pediatrician?

Your child's doctor knows them best.

It's always a good idea to contact your pediatrician with any concerns you may have regarding your child's illness or other medical conditions.

During business hours, if wait time is listed as "unavailable" our online spots are all reserved, however we still accept walk-in patients.

Wait times are updated every minute and are estimated based on the average time it takes for a patient to be placed in an exam room. You may have an additional wait once you are in an exam room to see the provider.
