bio

Lora Scott is the division chief for sports medicine at Dayton Children's and the sports medicine provider for the Center for the Female Athlete. Dr. Scott grew up in Fayetteville, Arkansas and attended medical school at St Louis University. She completed her residency at University of South Florida in general pediatrics and received her fellowship training at Cincinnati Children's in primary care sports medicine. Dr. Scott has worked with University of South Florida Bulls, University of Cincinnati Bearcats, Flying Pig Marathon, Dayton Juniors volleyball, Haunted Classic soccer tournament, Wright State athletics and Dayton Stealth hockey. Dr. Scott is also a former swimmer/ triathlete until personally experiencing most of the injuries treated in sports medicine - including 2 concussions. She enjoys outdoor activities - camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming, beach, surfing, and SCUBA .

I chose my specialty because...

I wanted to help children safely participate in exercise and activity, while managing their illnesses and injuries appropriately.

I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...

I wanted to work in a setting which sees children as a unique population of patients who cannot simply be treated as small adults.

Dayton Children's is special because...

Dayton Children's is big enough to provide excellent care to children with a variety of conditions, but small enough that you know colleagues in other departments who see the same patients.

We were there for the Center for Female Athletes. Highly recommend!

Dr. Scott was very patient with us, took a lot of time, and discussed everything in great detail. I really, really like this clinic.

We knew this appt was just the first step to another appt with someone in the therapy dept. We came in with a diagnosis/name of condition from the athletic trainer at the high school but the dr did not even mention that name so that was odd. And she did not explain the connection between her two ailments. But otherwise we were thankful to get in to see the dr. It's frustrating that the CFA has not yet contacted us for the next appt. I even called the same day but was only able to leave a message. So from my message and the referral we still have not heard from them.

We have truly enjoyed the athletics, female athletics. Dr. Lora has been amazing for my daughter. She has brought her a long way. We appreciate them just having fun with her and helping her develop in all the different ways, and we just truly have had a wonderful time. We recommend them 100%. Thank you.
