10 ways to support children’s mental health

October 10th is World Mental Health Day, a day started and recognized by the World Health Organization to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and offer resources to help address them.
Kids don't wear their thoughts on their sleeves, and many are dealing with challenges we don't know about. They might be struggling with their mental health and may need the guidance of a caring and trusted adult to help them navigate these moments. That’s why the On Our Sleeves movement is here to share ten ways you can support a child’s mental health today.

1. Start conversations that really matter to them.
Engage in open and honest dialogues with your child. As a parent, caregiver or educator, you want to know what is going on so you can give help and support. Ask about their thoughts, feelings, and concerns regularly.

Teach the value of gratitude by taking a moment each day to reflect together on the positives that happen each day. This can help us focus on the good even during challenging times.
