chronic headaches, idiopathic intracranial hypertension

bio

Betsy Medaugh, APRN, CPNP is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the division of neurology at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Betsy was born and raised in Centerville Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills KY and her advanced practice degree at Wright State University.

She has a special interest in caring for pediatric patients with chronic headaches, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, tics and epilepsy, but she sees patients with a variety of other neurologic diagnoses.

It is my privilege to work in pediatrics, children are not just tiny adults, they are unique in their medical needs and their care must incorporate a family-centered approach. I enjoy forming meaningful and lasting relationships with both my patients and their caregivers. I enjoy watching them grow up into tomorrow's future. I couldn't ask for a better place to be than Dayton Children's.

Outside of work Betsy enjoys hiking, boating, camping and spending time with her husband and three children.

get to know me

I chose my specialty because...

I want to make a difference in my patient's health, overall well-being and quality of life. Neurologic diagnoses pose potential harm to one's overall quality of life. It is my goal to gain seizure freedom in patients with epilepsy, increase functionality and improved level of comfort in patients with chronic pain and migraines, and achieve improved level of mobility, function and quality of life in patients with cerebral palsy.

I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...

of the values we promote, the dedication of our staff, and the patient population we care for. I could not have chosen a better place to be.

Dayton Children's is special because...

we are a free standing pediatric hospital with awesome staff who come to work because we enjoy providing excellent health care to our pediatric community.

Hi, this provider is exceptional. She really listens to the parents as well as the children and tries to dive in as quick as she can to navigate the waters and see what is really going on with the child. She thinks outside of the box. She's trying to think of what's gonna help the child with the neurologic issues, health issues, lab works. You can see her wills turning in her brain as you're talking to her when she's just really trying to figure out the situation and get resolution for your child. So definitely highly recommend her. She has great bedside manner. My child feels very comfortable around her. We've had her more than one time. So great job to Dayton Children's on this neurologic specialist that you guys have at this location.
