newest physician will help children struggling with blood disorders and cancer
Dayton Children’s welcomes Jordan M. Wright, MD, to the hematology/oncology department. He joins a multidisciplinary team in the Comprehensive Care Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders that provides superior care and strong, ongoing support to patients and their families.
Dr. Wright is the hemophilia program director. He will focus on blood disorders, including helping patients with conditions in which their blood doesn’t clot enough or it clots too much. He will also treat patients battling cancer.
Dr. Wright comes to us from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology and earned a master’s in Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Wright served his pediatric residency and internship in the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s program at Children’s of Alabama. He earned his doctorate at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Dr. Wright will add to the expertise of the current team. Led by board-certified pediatric hematologists/oncologists, the team also includes nurses, a nurse practitioner, social worker and child life specialist. Working together with other specialists to ensure each child’s unique needs are met, we provide comprehensive therapies, education and support for children and their families in a kid-friendly environment.
Dayton Children’s program offers the most current, state-of-the-art cancer treatments available and participates in extensive clinical research to improve care. The hospital is one of only ten freestanding pediatric programs in the country to be approved by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and has a survival rate for all childhood cancers combined that is higher than the national average. Dayton Children’s runs the West Central Ohio Hemophilia Center and the West Central Ohio Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, as well.
