Katherine Cothern, MD

bio

Katherine Cothern, MD is a physician at Dayton Children’s in the hospital medicine department.

Dr. Cothern helps kids who are too sick to wait it out at home and then once recovered to help bridge that gap between hospital care and home in conjunction with their primary care provider.

When not at Dayton Children's, she loves horseback riding, volleyball, golf, water sports and doing puzzles. Dr. Cothern spends a ton of time with her rambunctious children and fun-loving husband, and would rather be doing anything than just sitting still.

I chose my specialty because...

I like the quick pace of pediatrics - something is always changing or happening with the kids and it keeps you on your toes.

I like working with kids because...

they are genuine in everything they do. Once they are feeling better there is nothing quite like it to see their true personalities come out.

I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...

I love the work environment that is cultivated within the hospital, everyone is truly working together toward one common goal of the best care possible for all the kids.

Dayton Children's is special because...

it will always hold a unique place in my heart - I grew up in Dayton and continued my medical education and residency here. I have had numerous family members treated through Dayton Children's and had nothing but the best experiences through them. I am excited to give back to the community that has helped to shape who I am as a person and physician.
