I chose my specialty because...
Caring for hospitalized, ill children alongside residents means keeping my own medical knowledge, physical exam skills and diagnostic acumen sharp at the same time. Being a hospitalist means that I can devote the time and effort necessary to caring for a sick patient thoroughly instead of being limited by attempting to stick to a schedule of 10-20 minute appointments!
I like working with kids because...
their physiology and progression through the stages of cognitive development create unique challenges in providing medical care...but really because they can be so insightful, creative, honest, endearing, and resilient!
I chose to work at Dayton Children's because...
I consider it a unique privilege to care for the children and families that live in the same town in which I was raised and be a colleague to the people who supported, inspired and influenced me during my training...not to mention the extremely capable and diligent resident physicians!
Dayton Children's is special because...
World-class providers and technologies are available to providers and patients, and yet it has the feel of being a small community hospital because of the outreach and impact Dayton Children's has in the region.
