visual sequelae of concussion, myopia control/management, kids with special needs

bio

Kettering native and Chaminade-Julienne High School alum, Catherine McDaniel, OD, MS, is excited to be able to serve her hometown and do what she loves! For over ten years, Dr. McDaniel served as a professor at The Ohio State University teaching colleagues and providing patient care, and now she is thrilled to be back serving the children and families of the Greater Dayton region.

As a pediatric optometrist, Dr. McDaniel performs comprehensive vision care, amblyopia and strabismus treatment, post-concussion vision evaluation and care, myopia control/management treatment and evaluations for common binocular vision conditions in kids.

Dr. McDaniel completed her residency in pediatric optometry and binocular vision at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She earned her Doctor of Optometry from The Ohio State University where she also earned a Master of Science in vision science. She chose to specialize in pediatric optometry because helping kids reach their visual potential can have a lasting impact on their entire life. In education, most of what we learn is presented visually. No child's vision should hinder their ability to succeed.

Outside of work, Dr. McDaniel loves spending time with her two amazing kids, her energetic husband and her lap dog who loves to snuggle.
