The pediatric and adolescent gynecology clinic at Dayton Children’s provides comprehensive patient care focused on the diagnosis, medical and surgical management of conditions affecting the pediatric and adolescent female reproductive system Our team is trained in the special needs of young girls and is prepared to work with patients with varying needs including those with complex medical conditions, special needs and development delays. We care for patients from newborn through young adulthood.

We provide comprehensive evaluation and specialized treatment for gynecological conditions and often care for adolescents in need of medically complex care or surgical treatment.

reproductive and sexual health program

Our specialists evaluate and treat a variety of non-surgical gynecological concerns and contraceptive needs, including long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods, the implant and IUD.

  • Contraceptive counseling
  • Contraception, including Nexplanon/implant and Mirena/Kyleena/IUD
  • Menstrual problems due to chronic disease or bleeding disorders
  • Menstrual cramps, dysmenorrhea
  • Menstrual bleeding that is absent, irregular, heavy, or infrequent
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Reproductive and sexual health visits
  • Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment
  • Vaginal discharge

We provide a thorough initial evaluation complete with counseling and education, on all treatment options available, to help you make the right decision for your health care needs.  Please be advised, if you are seeking or are referred for LARC methods, a second visit will be needed to complete placement. This is necessary due to insurance requirements. It also takes the pressure off of choosing a method before your appointment.

If you are referred for any of these services, please do not discontinue any medications or treatment unless directed to by your referring provider.

for your visit

Bring the following to your first visit:

  • Any relevant medical records
  • Log or prior menstrual history/ dates of your menstrual history
  • Results for any tests not performed at a Dayton Children’s facility
  • Medications patient takes

Our team spends time with families to make sure they fully understand the patient’s condition, treatment options and what to expect during and after treatment. During your first clinic visit, you can expect:

  • A physical exam
  • A discussion about the patient’s medical history
  • Urine testing
  • A conversation about treatment options

Your initial clinic visit typically takes 40 minutes. Please arrive 20 minutes early.

We promote an environment that recognizes a teenager’s need for confidentiality and trust while also welcoming involvement from family members and significant others. Patients should be advised that all appointments include a standard confidential, one-on-one interview, regardless of reason for visit.

The Mental Health Resource Connection program connects patients and families to available mental health services in the community – striving to improve the mental health and wellness of children within our reach. This service is administered by social workers experienced in evaluating pediatric mental health needs and the services required to meet those needs.

Existing patients that have already seen a provider in the gynecology clinic at Dayton Children’s and need to schedule a follow-up appointment, please log in to MyChart to schedule directly with your provider or call 937-641-4000. If you do not have a MyKidsChart account, sign up today.

New patients may call 937-641-4000 to make an appointment by phone. A physician referral is recommended prior to the first outpatient visit.

You can prepare for your first gynecology clinic visit by bringing any relevant medical records, a log of prior menstrual history or dates of your menstrual history, results for any tests not performed at a Dayton Children’s facility, and a list of any medications.
