expert emergency care, designed specially for kids

At Dayton Children’s, our emergency department staff specializes in one thing: caring for critically ill and injured children. As the region’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center, we provide expert care at two convenient locations – ready 24/7 for any emergency.

Our pediatric emergency medicine physicians and nurses treat over 100,000 children each year, and have access to more than 50 subspecialties for complex cases. Every detail of our emergency department is built around the pediatric difference – from kid-friendly spaces and right-sized equipment to a team trained to deliver developmentally appropriate care.

We have private rooms, calming features like TVs and colorful walls, and support from child life specialists and social workers to ease stress for families. Our team is equipped to perform tests and treatments gently and safely, assess and relieve pain, and help children feel comfortable – even when they’re scared or unable to stay still.

Behind every visit is a full hospital of pediatric experts, including radiology technicians, pharmacists and subspecialty physicians – all working together to deliver the highest quality of care when it matters most.
