6/20/23 employee experience

two Dayton Children's employees honored as region's brightest young professionals

Adam Blanchard and Dr. Sean Antosh were recently named 2023 Forty Under 40 winners by the Dayton Business Journal.

In its twenty-sixth year, Forty Under 40 honors the region's brightest young professionals. This year's cohort was chosen from 200 nominations based on professional accomplishments, community leadership, accolades and career milestones. Winners represent a variety of industries, including real estate, entrepreneurship, health care, technology and small businesses.

Adam and Dr. Antosh join a special group of over 900 people from the Miami Valley who have received Forty Under 40 awards, including Dayton Children's Casey Hookfin and Brenden Wynn.

Adam Blanchard, MS, CFRE, director of donor engagement

Adam Blanchard is a member of the foundation leadership team at Dayton Children's. He leads the overall strategy for acquisition and retention of donors and manages key corporate partnerships, driving charitable donations and financial support for the hospital.

Some examples of this include Adam's 2017 Clark County fundraising, which raised $400,000 for the patient tower. He's also worked with the Women's Board to raise over $1 million for cha | cha 2022 - a hospital fundraiser that's cited by Dayton Business Journal as Dayton's 2022 #1 fundraising event. During his eight years at Dayton Children's, he's grown the employee giving campaign by 200%.

According to his nomination, "Adam is becoming a thought-leader in the fundraising industry, not only locally but also on an international level. He spends time giving back to his community and has a love for Dayton."

He gives back to the region as a graduate of Leadership Dayton, local Boy Scouts board member, board member for Discover Classical WDPR Dayton and more.

"I feel incredibly humbled by the recognition," said Adam. "There are many who have been a part of my journey and who really made something like this possible, especially the amazing team that I'm blessed to work with every day."

Sean Antosh, MD, anesthesiologist and chief medical wellness and engagement officer

Since joining Dayton Children's in 2016, Dr. Antosh has improved the patient experience through innovative techniques and has set the gold standard for anesthesia care for children with autism spectrum disorder and high anxieties

Dr. Antosh brought a team of Dayton Children's employees together to find a way to create a more relaxed, sensory friendly environment to soothe and distract kids before surgery.

Since the start of our sensory program, the amount of pre-surgery calming medicine has reduced from 90% of patients to 20%. His efforts led Dayton Children's to be listed as a top 15 children's hospital in innovation and technology by Parent's Magazine.

"With the help, compassion and love exemplified by Dr. Antosh, he and Dayton Children's have made a difference for many families, both now and in the future," read his nomination.

He's also received numerous accolades, including being named a Dayton Business journal health care hero and receiving a Dayton Children's Robert C. Cohn Memorial research grant and collaborator in caring award.

"This award is more of a testament to Dayton Children's," said Dr. Antosh. "I am honored to work for an organization that provides opportunities and fosters the development of early career physicians. Dayton Children's has invested in me, so I may continue to invest in our community and the patients we serve on a daily basis."
