pediatric urology
Dayton Children’s team provides expert, family-centered care for urinary conditions, using the latest surgical techniques to help kids heal faster.

understanding pediatric urology
Pediatric urology focuses on conditions that affect a child’s kidneys, bladder, urinary tract, and genitalia. At Dayton Children’s, our urology specialists diagnose and treat everything from common issues such as urinary tract infections or bedwetting to complex conditions that require surgery.
Our surgeons are leaders in minimally invasive approaches, including laparoscopic procedures and ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy for kidney stones. We also offer a spinal anesthesia program that allows many common surgeries to be performed without general anesthesia, helping minimize recovery time and medication use.
pediatric urology services
Our urology program provides care that ranges from everyday concerns to advanced surgical needs. Services include:
- Evaluation and treatment for urinary tract infections, bedwetting, voiding dysfunction, and other common conditions
- Testing and procedures such as bladder retraining, urodynamic studies, and clinic procedures like circumcision or correction of minor adhesions
- Minimally invasive surgery for conditions such as kidney obstruction, reflux, kidney stones, or undescended testes – whenever possible performed laparoscopically or with spinal anesthesia to reduce recovery time
- Specialized surgical care for complex conditions, including hypospadias repair, hernia repair, or reconstruction procedures
- Family education and support to help caregivers understand treatment options and promote healthy recovery at home
