understanding chronic pain management

Our outpatient chronic pain clinic brings together specialists from psychology, physical therapy, anesthesiology, and other areas to support children and teens living with complex or long-term pain.

We focus on non-opioid pain management combined with therapy, coping strategies, and holistic options such as relaxation techniques or massage. For some patients, interventional procedures may also be part of treatment.

 how it works

Our program is designed to give kids and families practical tools to manage pain and daily life more effectively. Patients participate in a 10-week plan where they meet regularly with the pain management team.

Throughout this program, children and families learn coping strategies, build confidence, and practice skills such as mindfulness, relaxation, and physical therapy exercises. Depending on individual needs, treatment may also include psychological support, non-opioid medications, or procedures to address specific sources of pain.
