On Our Sleeves in Action shows how local community members are using our resources to make a difference
We’re giving a round of applause to Dayton Public’s Belle Haven Elementary School for breaking the stigma surrounding children’s mental health and partnering with On Our Sleeves to spread the word about mental wellness!
The educators at Dayton Public School’s Belle Haven Elementary were all smiles after getting On Our Sleeves’ Classroom Champion materials for their first-ever Mental Health Day!
On Our Sleeves’ Classroom Champions has created resources, guides and activities to help educators address mental health in the classroom and take care of their own mental wellness. Belle Haven’s school-based therapist, Meaghan Iandolo, took some of those resources to hand out to the educators she works with. These resources focused on avoiding staff burnout and learning how to build positive relationships between staff and students.
Meaghan says the educators were surprised that the resources were for them and not for them to pass on to students. Some were even moved to tears.
On Our Sleeves knows that being an educator is not an easy job. It takes endless amounts of patience, creativity, and heart. Educators are busy juggling the roles of being teacher, mentor, listener, problem-solver, and so much more. That’s why we have the Classroom Champions community, an email list with monthly resources and activities to use in school.
