Dayton Children’s earns national recognition in 2 specialties

Dayton Children’s Hospital has been recognized as a 2026-2027 Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, earning national rankings in orthopedics and neonatology.
This marks the seventh consecutive year Dayton Children’s orthopedics program has earned national recognition. The hospital’s neonatology program is in its second consecutive year, recognizing the advanced, family-centered care provided to critically ill and premature newborns.
“Every child deserves access to outstanding orthopedic care close to home,” said Michael Albert, MD, division chief of pediatric orthopedics at Dayton Children’s. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team to helping children heal, regain mobility and get back to being kids. We are grateful for the trust families place in us and remain committed to providing the highest quality care for the children of our region.”
“A NICU stay can be one of the most difficult experiences a family faces, and being able to receive highly specialized care close to home and their support system can make a meaningful difference,” said Olutoye Osunbunmi, MD, medical director of neonatology at Dayton Children’s. “This recognition reflects our team’s commitment to caring for babies with expertise and compassion while supporting families every step of the way. Our focus remains on helping every child have the strongest possible start in life.”
The rankings are designed to help families and physicians identify hospitals that provide high-quality care for children with serious or complex medical needs. Dayton Children’s rankings reflect the work of multidisciplinary teams focused on clinical outcomes, patient safety, quality improvement and the experience of children and families.
“These rankings reflect the quality and expertise families can expect at Dayton Children’s,” said Adam Mezoff, MD, vice president and chief medical officer for Dayton Children’s. “Families deserve to find care that feels right for them, whether that means being close to home, staying connected to their support system or building trust with their child’s care team. We’re proud to offer nationally recognized pediatric care right here in their community.”
