Charles Kidwell

Charles (Chas) Kidwell, serves as the vice president and chief legal officer for Dayton Children’s Hospital. He has more than 35 years of experience as an attorney practicing in the areas of healthcare, nonprofit organizations, mergers and acquisitions, tax and financing transactions.    

Chas is a member of the senior leadership team. His responsibilities include advising the Board of Trustees, establishing legal strategies, managing corporate initiatives, transactions, contracting, labor and employment, regulatory compliance, litigation and outside legal counsel. Mr. Kidwell also oversees the organization’s risk management, including its offshore captive insurance entity and corporate compliance functions. 

Prior to joining Dayton Children’s, Chas served as a partner at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, a full-service national law firm, in various management roles including the Directing Partners Board. His extensive experience includes representation of domestic and international clients including healthcare organizations, universities, charter/private schools, manufacturing companies and nonprofit entities.

He has been recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer and holds the highest recognition in skill and professional ethics by Martindale Hubble. He has served on and chaired various community and nonprofit boards.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in accounting along with a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Miami University of Ohio and a law degree from the University of Dayton Law School awarded in 1985.
