mental health resource connection

how does the mental health resource connection work?

  1. The program maintains a database of resources available in the community. You can also review these resources using our mental health resource finder.
  2. A child can be referred to the Mental Health Resource Connection by their primary care physician or by self-referral. The primary care provider will contact the program to confer about the child in need of mental health services. A behavioral health specialist will then follow-up with the patient or family by phone or email. If referring by self-referral please fill out our form below to get connected to care.
  3. You will then be contacted within 5 business days by a member of the team. They will assess the request and complete a screening with the parent or legal guardian, then provide a list of recommended mental health resources for your child. This will include any referrals needed to Dayton Children’s services, based on insurance, location, need and availability.
  4. The behavioral health specialist will continue to work with the family to confirm that a connection was made.
  5. Confirmation will then be communicated back to the referring physician.

If you are interested in a referral to the Mental Health Resource Connection please talk to your child’s primary care provider or by filling out our form to get connected to care.
