Dr. Adam Mezoff serves as vice president and chief medical officer at Dayton Children’s, where he provides clinical leadership to advance the hospital’s relentless pursuit of optimal health for every child within our reach. He partners with physicians, clinical teams and executive leaders to drive clinical excellence, quality, safety and innovation across the organization.

A board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist, certified physician executive and fellow of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Dr. Mezoff brings more than 35 years of pediatric clinical, academic and executive leadership experience. Since joining Dayton Children’s in 1991, he has played a transformative role in shaping the hospital’s growth, clinical strategy and culture.

As chief medical officer, Dr. Mezoff has helped expand access to pediatric specialty care by recruiting more than 200 subspecialists and establishing several new clinical programs, including allergy, rheumatology, pediatric ENT, physical medicine and rehabilitation, dentistry and craniofacial services. His leadership has strengthened access to expert care while helping build a highly engaged physician workforce.

Dr. Mezoff has been instrumental in advancing physician engagement and wellness, helping Dayton Children’s earn national recognition for provider engagement while creating leadership development pathways for physicians across the organization. He has also helped build the hospital’s quality improvement infrastructure, advancing a strong culture of quality and safety and contributing to nationally recognized outcomes, including record-setting performance in reducing serious safety events.

He has led major transformation efforts in clinical informatics, population health and integrated care management to improve care delivery and outcomes for children and families. He also helped to establish the hospital’s simulation program, supporting hands-on interdisciplinary training that strengthens clinical readiness, teamwork and patient safety.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Mezoff played a critical leadership role in Dayton Children’s emergency response, partnering with healthcare leaders across the region and state to coordinate care, support public education and help lead vaccine initiatives to protect children and families.

In addition to his executive leadership, Dr. Mezoff remains deeply committed to academic medicine and physician development. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, contributed to national research collaborations and mentored generations of physician leaders. He serves as a clinical professor of pediatrics at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

Dr. Mezoff earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine after completing his undergraduate studies at Brown University. He completed his pediatric residency and fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
