New patients — including those seen first in the ER or urgent care — can schedule directly online. No referral required in most cases.

Pediatric orthopedists complete additional fellowship training focused on growing bones, muscles and joints — including growth plates, which adults don’t have. Our team also knows how to make exams, casting and recovery less stressful for kids and teens.

At Dayton Children’s, we have great clinic access for sports injuries and fractures when your child needs it most. For urgent conditions, find care now at a Dayton Children’s urgent care or emergency department. For non-urgent concerns, you can schedule online with orthopedics and choose the earliest available appointment.

Not necessarily. We pursue the least invasive treatment plan possible — many injuries heal with casting, bracing or physical therapy — and recommend surgery only when it truly helps. If surgery is the right choice, our team will walk you through exactly what to expect before, during and after.

Kamyah’s story

When Kamyah tore her ACL, Dayton Children’s got her through surgery, uncovered a condition affecting her healing, and supported her emotionally through every step. Eight months later, she’s heading back to the playoffs.

“They take their time. They’re patient,” her mom says. “Kamyah is energetic and had a difficult time with the physical part of her recovery, but they never got frustrated and they knew exactly how to connect with a young girl who needed care.”

If your child is facing an orthopedic injury or condition, Dayton Children’s provides expert care that goes beyond the diagnosis. Our team looks at the whole picture including nutrition, mental health, and physical recovery to build a plan around your child’s unique needs.
