The emergency department at The Children's Medical Center provides care for approximately 52,900 sick and injured children each year. The department is staffed by specially trained pediatric emergency medicine/pediatric specialists 24 hours a day. Support services in the department include a child life therapist and social workers to address the emotional and psychosocial needs of children and their families. Expert pediatric care for urgent and emergent medical, surgical and traumatic conditions is provided to infants, children and young adults up to 21 years of age. A seven-bed observation unit is available for patients who require less than 24 hours observation. Urgent care services are provided by our onsite urgent care center and Far Hills urgent care (Lamplighter Square).

Every patient who presents to the emergency department received a medical evaluation. Diagnoses evaluated include:

• Trauma
• Abuse
• Burns
• Poisonings
• Urgent complaints
