Education and Support
At Dayton Children's we recognize that a hospitalization, a new diagnosis or a chronic illness can be stressful for children and families. Support groups, education programs and access to information are offered to help you and your child cope.

Education and Support

The Children's Medical Center of Dayton recognizes that through education and support, parents and families are better able to cope with a child's chronic illness, new diagnosis or emotional troubles. Dayton Children's also recognizes, that everyone is different in how they get the support they need. While some families may set up a website to update family and friends (CaringBridge), others may prefer the comfort of one or our support groups.

Our onsite Family Resource Center is a source of patient-family education materials, which include books, pamphlets, videotapes and audiotapes, and the staff and volunteers can help families conduct web searches on pediatric topics. The center also offers guest services such as access to e-mail, fax and phone services.
