| Job Description |
| Performs a full range of simple-to-complex diagnostic tests and laboratory services. Provides specialized expertise in one or more areas of chemistry, hematology, serology, microbiology, virology, molecular diagnostics or transfusion medicine. Ensures sample suitability and stability and may include sample collection. Professional application of of the principles, theories, and techniques of Clinical Laboratory Science to produce timely and accurate results as well as evaluate, judge and interpret results. Accepts and processes samples for on-site testing or forwards samples to references laboratories. Maintains and ensures functionality of laboratory equipment and instruments. Ensures quality control and quality assurance aspects of testing are maintained. Ensures laboratory is prepared for unannounced inspections from regulatory agencies. Maintains, monitors, orders and stocks laboratory supplies. Utilizes appropriate restraining techniques when necessary and provides instructions based upon the patient's ability to understand. Trains new employees, students and interns. Able to understand and conduct applicable computer functions. Attends Lab Meetings, regularly. Participates in continuing education. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Requirements: Associate degree medical technology, ASCP, AMT, NCA, HEW(HHS) or certification obtained within 1 year of hire, word processing/clerical skills. Hours: 3rd shift, as needed to include weekends and holidays. |
